Carbon neutralIn 2006 Atia became the first IP Communications company to be accredited carbon neutral and we're proud to have kept this status ever since. The impact on people and our environment is always central to our thinking and helped us decide on a new office location for 2007. Upon completion, The Tredomen Gateway, north of Cardiff, was recognised as the "Welsh Building of the Year", primarily for its innovative use of natural resources for light and heat. |
Charity workAtia are keen supporters of a number of charities that assist the learning and development of children and young adults across the world. We help these charities to recycle IT hardware and thereby provide much needed equipment to disadvantaged schools, in predominantly third world countries. In 2008 alone, we assisted in the refurbishment of over 500 PC Laptops and Monitors, which are being used to further the education and skills of children and young adults in both Africa and Asia. We're already planning to improve on this in 2009. |
InvestmentsEach year Atia looks to support a number of projects that support sustainability both in the UK and abroad. Broadley Farm, Devon, EnglandThis forestry project is designed to link 2 existing forests, creating a single area of woodland rich in naturally occurring trees. There are three key stages to the project. The first is to increase the natural growth of domestic trees. The second is to increase forest coverage, whilst decreasing carbon in the atmosphere. The third is to provide a natural habitat for the UK's native wildlife, and provide recreational space for us. The project will offset around 2,500t CO2 over a 100 year period. Isuna, Bhutan, AsiaThis project aims to reforest a valley close to the capital city that has been denuded through unsustainable harvesting for fuel wood and building materials. The planting of oak, blue and chir pine will provide employment for local people as well as offsetting about 13,000t CO2 over a 100 year period. |
Swyx forum gold sponsorAtia are proud to be a Gold sponsor of the Swyx Forum. This forum gives a much needed, independent outlet for users of Swyx. It is a place where users can explore, and discover the extensive capabilities of Swyx, which we’re keen to promote across the international user community. Atia have been a Gold Partner of Swyx since early 2007, and continue to invest heavily in the infrastructure to support Swyx internationally. Based in the UK, Atia support and maintain a significant proportion of the UK installation base, and have customers as far afield as Columbia, Pakistan and Germany. |
