How Unified Communications works
Unified Communications runs over your existing network infrastructure to provide IP based communications in the form of telephone calls, live chat, instant messaging and conference calls.
There are a number of elements that make up a successful Unified Communications deployment which we've covered here.
IP telephony
The transport of communications, whether voice, live chat, conference calling or instant messaging, is via your existing Cat5 network cabling. Your computers have client software installed on each machine that works with the central Unified Communications software to handle communications on a user by user basis.
Atia Communications provide additional cabling where required and provide installation and user training on the client software.
Installation & hosting
The Unified Communications platform itself is installed on a central Windows based server. The system requirements are standard, meaning it can be hosted and maintained with more confidence. This platform is responsible for connecting and providing the communications for each user. In effect it takes on the role of a traditional hardware based PBX, however being software based, is far more scalable and manageable than ever before.
Atia Communications provide the hardware and software, install and test the deployment and provide training for the administrators to allow in-house management of the system.
External communications
Communication with customers and satellite offices either in the UK or across the globe is via a dedicated ADSL or SIP line which is connected to your central Unified Communications server (see above). These dedicated lines provide the uninterrupted internet connectivity required to maintain the highest level of uptime possible. Your customers do not need special software to communicate with you, they will not know the difference, except of course for the improvement in customer service a successful Unified Communications deployment can bring.
Atia Communications provide the connectivity service required. We can migrate existing ADSL lines and port lines to SIP services where required.
