What is Unified Communications?
Unified Communications (UC) is the unification of your existing communications tools to enrich the user and customer experience of your organisation.
It is the bringing together of legacy based technologies with newer and more advanced technologies to provide the end user with information and applications to simply ‘communicate better’.
A successful Unified Communications deployment is reliant on several key components. The components are the same regardless of your organisations size and complexity. Deployment is dependent upon a mixture of;
Employee ‘buy in’ - Your employees need to be consulted as to the best way of deploying UC, and how they want to use the tools available. Focus groups and consultation meetings will determine how your company will benefit from all areas of Unified Communications.
Choosing the right delivery partner - A successful delivery is reliant on the ability of the delivery partner to fully understand your organisational needs and objectives. No two installations are the same and objectives will vary even between companies that look very similar.
Choosing the right software package - Software providers such as Microsoft have developed specific technologies to bridge the communications gap. Microsoft Lync (formally OCS) has been developed to either replace existing communications tools or enhance existing infrastructure
Continued Support and Development - Providing and maintaining a Unified Communications environment is an evolving process. If you have chosen the right delivery partner, then continued support and development will be simple
Most organisations will use a telephone system, send and receive faxes, provide their employees with internet access and use services such as voicemail for internal and external communications. Unified Communications marries together those existing communications tools with productivity tools such as Email, Instant Messaging and Mobile Access Devices to provide a centralised unified communications experience. Employees can access, distribute and update customer centric information from almost anywhere in the world which in turn provides better internal and external communications.
Atia Communications delivers Unified Communications solutions using the Microsoft Lync software package. The Microsoft Lync platform provides end customers with the ability to choose the method of deployment, choosing from either a Hosted system or a system delivered to site (On Premise Equipment). Users will gain a simplified user interface available on a Desktop PC, Mobile Device or a Desktop Phone. Microsoft Lync allows the interface to be available in the office, on a customer’s site, at home or from a public internet provider such as an internet cafe. The user just needs an internet connection to become a highly productive employee. Microsoft Lync delivers a complete communication package allowing users to access VoiP and Telephony Services, Audio Conferencing, Video Conferencing, Instant Messaging, Email, Unified Messaging, Voice Mail and Faxes from a UC interface.
